One of the founding principles of our party is ensuring
everyone has the right to vote. A century ago Republicans stood alongside
women’s suffrage activists implementing it. We continue to support the role the
Electoral College plays in our presidential elections. We advocate for
honest, open elections and support identification requirements at the polls to
prevent voter fraud.
Republicans have a long and proud history of fighting for equal voting rights that continues to this day. One of the most important rights of American citizens is the right to vote—the right to have a voice in choosing who our leaders are and how our government should work. Republicans work to ensure the troops over-seas will always have the ability and right to vote while ensuring voter identification laws are enforced and strengthened to ensure fair elections.
