As Republicans, we are committed to bring America to a time of domestic energy independence. This continent is blessed with abundant energy resources that are among the largest and most valuable on earth. We aim to improve our reliance on clean energy while weaning ourselves off of oil. A strong and growing energy sector will produce more jobs and be a catalyst of economic growth. We encourage research and development and consumption of energy that is economically viable as well as environmentally sound.
Here is an example of American brilliance. This young man built a nuclear fusion reactor when he was fourteen and now has a way to provide power for the United States, for the earth, or to fuel a trip to Mars and then provide power once there. As you watch this video try to remember that he has not graduated high school yet. Fuel doesn't have to mean coal, gas or oil and while we continue to use fossil fuels we must always think about how to make more efficient use of that energy. Gas or coal power has efficiency of about 25% to 30%. Taylor Wilson's idea has efficiency of more than 50% and you can seal the container, bury it in the ground and it lasts about one hundred and fifty years with no maintenance required. And it's also safe. Enjoy this video from TED.org:
